🎆 Everything You Need to Know About the 2025 Go Fourth Lewes Fireworks

It’s that time of year again—the 7th annual Go Fourth Lewes fireworks show is almost here! Whether you’re a local or visiting for the holiday, here’s everything you need to know to plan a safe, fun, and stress-free celebration on July 4th, 2025.

🎇 Fireworks Details

  • Date: July 4, 2025

  • Time: After dark

🚗 Traffic, Parking, and Road Closures

Expect major traffic delays before and after the show. Plan ahead and arrive early, stay late, and be patient.

🚧 Road Closures

  • Savannah Road Bridge: Closes to inbound traffic at 7 PM

  • Freeman Highway Bridge: Closes at 8 PM (Lewes Beach residents should use Freeman Highway after 7 PM)

  • Post-Show Traffic:

    • All vehicles must leave via Savannah Road or Freeman Highway.

    • No turns onto Gills Neck Road, Pilottown Road, or King’s Highway.

    • Cars will be held for at least 30 minutes after fireworks to let pedestrians and cyclists exit safely.

Tip: Leaving early will likely just mean you’ll be stuck waiting in your car longer.

🚙 Parking

  • Parking is strictly enforced.

    • No parking along Cape Henlopen Drive or the Savannah Road shoulder.

    • All parking rules, meters, and regulations apply until 8 PM.

    • Metered parking: Savannah Beach (Beach One) and Johnnie Walker Beach (Beach Two).

  • Cape May Lewes Ferry: Limited parking available, no guaranteed view.

  • Cape Henlopen State Park Fishing Pier: Closed for fireworks viewing.

  • If you need to leave right after the show, park in town and walk to the beach.

🚶‍♀️ Pedestrian & Bike Safety

Walking or biking to the fireworks? Great idea—just be prepared:

  • Bring flashlights and wear reflective clothing.

  • The Rail Trail is not lit at night.

  • Cyclists must follow all traffic laws and stay off sidewalks.

  • After the show, police will hold vehicle traffic to let pedestrians and bikes exit first.

🚻 Restrooms & Trash

  • Bathrooms:

    • Beach 1 bathhouse will be ladies only after 7 PM.

    • Extra porta-potties (including accessible ones) at Beach 1, Beach 2, and other locations.

  • Trash:

    • No glass bottles allowed—ever.

    • Carry in, carry out. Take your trash home or use bins along Bay Avenue.

    • Leaving trash behind pollutes the bay and harms wildlife.

🐾 Pets & Bonfires

  • Pets: Strongly discouraged—fireworks can be frightening and dangerous for animals.

  • Bonfires: Absolutely not allowed on Lewes Beach on July 4th. No exceptions.

🏖️ Safety Reminders

  • Bring plenty of water and supplies—no vendors on the beach.

  • Wait until the fireworks end to leave your spot to avoid tripping over others.

  • Be courteous, patient, and respectful to fellow beachgoers, first responders, and city employees.
