Get ready for a day of imagination, creativity, and hands-on fun at the 10th Annual LEGO Shipbuilding Day on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation’s Copeland Maritime Center in Wilmington, DE. This STEM-focused event is perfect for all ages and skill levels, offering a chance to design, build, and compete with your own LEGO ship creations!

What to Expect
- Hands-On STEM Activities: Build LEGO replicas of historic and naval ships using structured STEM-based plans.
- Free-Play LEGO Zone: Let your creativity run wild with unlimited LEGOs provided by the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation.
- LEGO Shipbuilding Contests: Enter your on-site or home-built LEGO ship into the competition for a chance to win LEGO gift cards!
LEGO Shipbuilding Contests & Prizes
Contest #1: Maritime Center Build Contest
- Build your own LEGO ship on-site using the free-play LEGOs.
- Entries judged in four age groups with First & Second place prizes (LEGO gift cards):
- Ages 5 and under
- Ages 6-9
- Ages 10-15
- Ages 16 and up
- Submission Deadline: March 1, 2025, by 2:00 PM
Contest #2: Home Build Contest
- Build a LEGO ship at home and bring it to the event to enter the competition.
- Entries judged in three age groups with First & Second place prizes (LEGO gift cards):
- Ages 9 and under
- Ages 10-15
- Ages 16 and up
- Submission Deadline: March 1, 2025, by 1:00 PM
- Winners announced on March 2. You don’t need to be present to win!
Before You Attend
- If you or a family member is feeling unwell, please stay home to keep everyone safe.
- All LEGOs used on-site must remain at the event – they are sanitized and reused annually.
