Looking decidedly different from the forest and wildlife inspired parks, Fort DuPont State Park is interesting in its own way.

Its buildings exude its historical significance as a military base in years past, with its purpose being to protect Philadelphia and the lands along the Delaware River from naval attacks. Its buildings, long since abandoned can be explored. Birds also fly and hunt in the parks borders, from ospreys to bald eagles.
