Halloween is just around the corner, and Delaware is ready to deliver plenty of spooky fun for kids and families! Whether you’re looking for a haunted hayride, a trick-or-treat trail, or a pumpkin patch adventure, Delaware has you covered. Here some of the best family-friendly Halloween attractions you won’t want to miss this season!

1.Halloween Wagon Rides at Bellevue:

But put on your Halloween costume and enjoy a fun, relaxing wagon ride across the beautiful grounds of Bellevue as you take in the sights of the park and feel the crisp autumn air. By the time you sit before the campfire to warm up afterwards, you will know Halloween is just around the corner. Do feel free to bring in your own snacks or drinks, as food will not be provided. Also, please park in the main lot and come into the Arts Center to check in.

2.Sea Witch Festival, Rehoboth

A time-honored tradition for over 25 years, this Sea Witch Halloween Festival brings smiles to everyone’s faces, young and old-and the three days of spooky fun will prove just why Rehoboth Beach is the perfect place to spend Halloween. Enjoy the parades with thousands of creative costumes and canine ones too, plus live music performances by the state’s official Fiddlers’ Festival and so much more. Kids can go trick-or-treating on the beach while families can participate in the pumpkin decorating contest and the brave ones in the Sea Witch Hunt for some goodies. It has hayrides, a Choo Choo Express for little kids, and plenty of food, games, and entertainment, making it a festive celebration you shouldn’t miss!

The event takes place at multiple locations, including 224 Rehoboth Ave. in Rehoboth.

3.Tram & Treat, Winterthur

Ditch the old house trick-or-treating this year and take your costumed kids to Winterthur for Tram & Treat on Saturday, Oct. 26! Come in your best Halloween garb for a spooktacular afternoon of trick-or-treating in the gardens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join in copious amounts of crafts, music, and games, too. The event is free and included with admission or free to our members. Although the event is a drop-in, do feel free to pre-register in advance.

4. Kalmar Nyckel’s Halloween Ghost Ship, Wilmington

Join the sixth annual Halloween Ghost Ship, this Saturday, Oct. 19, from noon to 4 p.m., at the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation Shipyard. Come dressed in your best Halloween costume and have a fun-filled day to remember with a costume parade and spooky tours inside the Copeland Maritime Center. Fun for all ages from “spooky” to “sweet”: Tours of the 141-foot Tall Ship of Delaware, Halloween-themed crafts, outdoor pumpkin painting, and face painting. Plus food from a truck, water, and snacks to keep you energized while you trick-or-treat! We hope to see you there as we celebrate Halloween in its peak.

5. Newark Halloween Parade & Trick or Treat, Newark Newark Halloween Parade & Trick or Treat, Newark

Get ready for some Halloween fun, because Newark is back with its annual Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat Main Street on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.! This is the exciting day when you can watch marching bands, colorful floats, beloved costumed characters, antique automobiles, and, of course, lots of candy for the kiddos! The parade will start on Tyre Avenue and head west on Main Street to College Avenue. Bring your family and friends for a spooktacular time – there’s so much fun in store!

6. Halloween Express
Halloween Express Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove.

Be prepared for a magical experience at Wilmington & Western Railroad as a friendly railroad witch will make an special appearance! She’ll ride the train and meet all the children, making it a fun adventure for all.

Both adults and children can come dressed in costume to ride to the beautiful Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove on the low price of $10 (for those in costume) for a fun 1½ hour round trip. Don’t forget your picnic lunch to eat during the ½-hour stop at the grove.

This enchanting excursion will be powered by one of our vintage steam locomotives, adding a touch of nostalgia to your Halloween festivities!
