History

Humane Animal Partners (HAP) was established in 2022 through the merger of the Delaware Humane Association and Delaware SPCA, both of which had long histories of serving animals and communities. The Delaware SPCA was founded in 1873 to address livestock mistreatment, while the Delaware Humane Association began in 1957, focusing on the welfare of dogs and cats.As a no-kill nonprofit organization, HAP finds homes for thousands of animals each year and emphasizes caring for both animals and people. They offer various programs aimed at promoting pet retention, including low-cost veterinary care, spay/neuter services, vaccination clinics, and a free community pet food pantry to assist local families in need. Through their combined efforts, HAP is dedicated to continuing the legacy of compassion and support for animals in their community.
