Prepare to be serenaded by the sultry voice of Maya Belardo, lovingly known as the “Princess of Jazz” in her hometown of Wilmington, DE. Maya’s passion for jazz began at age 12, inspired by the music of Nat King Cole and other legendary artists. With almost a decade of performances under her belt, including a prestigious residency at Bangkok’s historic Bamboo Bar, Maya is an international rising star. This year, she was awarded the 2024 Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the Delaware Division of the Arts, and her original music is set to captivate fans both old and new. Her single “Better Days,” released in September, is already making waves, and her upcoming EP will showcase her unique sound.
Artist Talk with Eo Omwake
At 6:00 PM, join painter Eo Omwake and curator Margaret Winslow in Gallery 9 for a special discussion about his artistic process and his featured work, Taming of the Ox, currently on display in Paintings from the Collection. Omwake, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, has exhibited throughout the Northeast and is a beloved teacher at the Delaware Art Museum. His insightful talk will offer a rare glimpse into the mind of a celebrated artist who has spent decades mastering his craft.
