Public Meeting Showcases Plans for Safer, More Accessible Pathways

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) showcased its plans for improving pedestrian and bicycle pathways in Milford during a public workshop at the city’s Public Works Building Wednesday afternoon.

Displays and detailed project descriptions highlighted the plans, aimed at enhancing safety and encouraging alternative transportation options. Locals Bruce and Sue Scurato expressed their support for the project, emphasizing the need for accessible paths. “It would be nice if people in wheelchairs, with walkers, or mobility scooters, had the same accessibility without getting crowded,” said Sue.

Paul Leary, an engineer working on the Route 113 project, stressed the importance of creating safe pathways to reduce traffic congestion. “It provides more incentive for people to use a bike or ride a scooter,” Leary said.

Barbara Wolf, another Milford local, welcomed the upcoming improvements. “The town’s telling me that within the next few years, it will continue down my block because they’re putting in a bike path,” she said.

The workshop provided locals an opportunity to learn more about the city’s plans to expand and upgrade its transportation infrastructure, improving mobility for all.
