The Hair of the Dog Walk/Run/Plunge event is a beloved New Year’s Day tradition, and the 2025 edition promises to be bigger and better than ever! Presented by the Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation (QRCF), this event features a 5K run, a 1-mile walk, and the iconic Leo Brady Polar Plunge in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Whether you’re a runner, walker, or looking for an unforgettable plunge into the chilly Atlantic Ocean, this event is the perfect way to ring in the new year.

Event Highlights:
- 5K Run/1 Mile Walk:
The Hair of the Dog 5K run and 1-mile walk will start at 10:00 AM, followed by the Leo Brady Polar Plunge at noon. Participants will enjoy a scenic route through downtown Bethany Beach, finishing at the picturesque boardwalk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. - Leo Brady Polar Plunge:
The plunge takes place at noon, where brave participants dive into the frigid waters of the Atlantic to raise funds for charity. Be sure to wear your wristband to participate! - Kiddie Dash:
Don’t forget the Kiddie Dash! This fun and festive event happens just before the 5K race. Registration is not required, but event shirts can be purchased for Kiddie Dash participants.
Registration Information:
- Online registration closes on December 30, 2024, at noon. Onsite registration will be available at Mango’s in Bethany Beach on December 31, 2024, from noon until 4 PM.
- Event shirts are guaranteed only for those who register by December 23, 2024.
- Early registrants (by December 2, 2024) will receive a commemorative long-sleeve tech t-shirt featuring a cool new design!
Team Boathouse Perks:
For those signing up with Team Boathouse, you’ll get exclusive perks, including transportation to and from the plunge, a breakfast, a Team Boathouse giveaway, and unlimited nachos to fuel up after your plunge.
Important Notes:
- The event takes place rain or shine (except in the case of lightning).
- Dogs are allowed only on the 1-mile walk (please pick up after your pets).
- Strollers must start at the back of the 5K field.
- No refunds for any reason as this is a charitable event.
