The Rehoboth Beach Patrol is seeking dedicated individuals to join its lifeguard team for the upcoming summer season. If you’re looking for a rewarding job that allows you to make a difference, develop essential lifesaving skills, and be part of a tight-knit team, this is your chance!

Lifeguard Tryout Dates and Locations

Interested applicants should complete an application and bring it to one of the scheduled tryouts:

  • Saturday, March 22 – Noon at the Sussex County YMCA, 20080 Church Street, Rehoboth Beach
  • Saturday, March 29 – 8 AM at Lake Forest High School, 5407 Killens Pond Road, Felton (rear parking lot near the pool)
  • Saturday, April 5 – 10 AM at Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences, 21150 Airport Road, Georgetown (pool entrance)

Tryout Requirements

Candidates will be tested on various skills essential to ocean rescue operations, including:

  • Swimming proficiency
  • Simulated deep-water and cross-chest rescues
  • One-mile run
  • Pushups and sit-ups

Applicants must be at least 16 years old by Memorial Day weekend and hold CPR and first aid certification.

Competitive Pay and Perks

  • Starting pay: $21 per hour
  • Guaranteed 40-hour workweek (full-time positions)
  • Longevity bonuses for those who complete the full season
  • Weekends and holidays required
