Named after the largest freshwater pond in Delaware (Lums Pond), which sits inside its boundaries, the park is an amazing site for visitors.

Lums Pond State Park has a sprawling area of 2.79 square miles, with plenty to do. There’s the usual hiking and biking trails. Or boating, if you prefer that. You can even go for a zipline ride at Go Ape’s Adventure Park, go horseback riding Sunset Stables. Or even do both, if that’s your cup of tea. Either way, there’s lots to keep you busy.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What are the park’s operating hours?
A: Open daily, from 8:00 AM to sunset (which varies every day)
Source

Q: The zipline is so cool, but I’m afraid of heights. Anything else for me?
A: Prefer to stay closer to the ground? You can go camping! The newly-renovated campground offers sites with three-point hookups (water, electric and sewer), as well as four horse campsites without hookups.

Q: I’ve heard the park has a sports team?
A: Indeed it does! Lums Pond is the official campground of UD Athletics! Watch for special discounts during football season!
Source

Q: What’s there to do in the pond itself?
A: Fishing and boating are amazing thanks to the size of Lums Pond. You’ll hook crappie, bluegill, perch, pickerel, largemouth bass, and more (fishing licenses are required, though).

Q: Awesome. I don’t have a boat though, am I out of luck?
A: Not at all! You can rent rowboats, canoes, kayaks and pedal boats, and a boat launching ramp and two piers allow easy access to the water.
