Huk Big Fish Classic 2023 Electric Reel Clarifications of Rules by Tournament Director Brian Roberts (No Electric Allowed for 2023):

Question: Can I use my Swordfish Rod Setup and plug in to check baits?
Answer: No you cannot plug in Swordfish Rod Setup or any Fishing Rod with an electric reel setting at any time during your fishing days.  

Question: Can I use Hooker Detachable Reels to check baits since they are IGFA Legal?
Answer: Although IGFA Allows Detachable Electric Reels to check baits, the 2022 Huk Big Fish Classic prohibits using the electric detachable reels to check baits.

Question: Can I use my Swordfish Rod Setup that has an electric reel setting without plugging in during Tournament?
Answer:  Yes.  The Swordfish Rod Setup that has an electric reel setting is allowed only if it is never plugged in during tournament fishing days.    

Question: Can I use a Reel Crankie to Check Baits on My Swordfish Rod Setup?
Answer:  Yes you can use a Reel Crankie and a Drill to check baits. TEAMS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THEM TO REPOSITION AND MUST BRING BAIT ALL THE WAY TO SURFACE IF YOU USE REEL CRANKIE!!!!  

Huk Big Fish Classic 2023 Circle Hook Clarifications of Rules by Tournament Director Brian Roberts:

Question: Can I use a J hook on a swordfish dead bait? Additionally can I use a J Hook on a ballyhoo dead bait for tuna?
Answer:  No and No! The Federal Goverment prohibits the use of J Hooks on all Dead Baits in the Huk Big Fish Classic as the HMS Rules require Circle Hooks for all Dead Baits in the Tournament.  This includes during chunking and trolling for tuna!

Question: Can multiple people touch the rod and fish out of the rod holder?
Answer: Absolutely!
